tenants break up want deposit back

wow what an interesting situation this is a new one to me. My tenants broke up AFTER they moved out of my place but before I am going to pay them the deposit. How should I handle paying them back if they both were on the lease but they probably hate each others guts now.

    @Michael Sherwood it's not your problem how they feel about each other. The deposit check should be made out to BOTH of their names. They can resolve their differences to post the check. In no circumstances cut two checks!
