Rental properties for a few years?

Olivia Gulledge
Posted

Hi, I am looking to move to Texas for a few years and want to finally start buying and renting out property there. Only thing, I plan to only be there tops 5 years. Is it worth buying and renting out property for that short of a time?

@Olivia Gulledge welcome to BP. Five years is fine. In fact, some investors recommend exit after five..............I have no idea why. I hold longer but that's just me. You can also live in the rental for the first two years and save on the Capital Gains tax. Best to get a CPA to guide you.
