How much does renter owe when breaking lease in MI? My son is switching jobs from Springfield MI to Warren, he was told that he has to pay 2 months rent because he is required to do a 60 day notice and then a 2 month penalty - he was told that he owes 4 months rent, that seems excessive. If it is 4 months, when does he have to pay it? It is one of the large rental companies, there generally are not too many avail in his building. Could a lawyers get him out of any of it - or do they cost more than the rent fees?
