STR set up service/help??

Question

So my question is this is there a service that would help me evaluate a potential home for short term rental.

(I already have one or two properties that I own that are not in HOA.) Would they help me get everything set up etc.? I figured after someone helps me with one I could probably handle setting any future ones up myself.

If you are looking for someone to purchase furniture, supplies, keyless lock, and set that up for you...then you might be able to ask your cleaner, handyman, or combination of both.

If you are looking to determine if a home in a given market will make a good STR....I like to do that research myself.   This usually involves driving around the area I am interested in, at different times of the year and times of day, to get a sense of what kind of neighborhoods they are, flooding, seasonal access/closings, etc.  and then researching Facebook groups for that market where guests are looking for homes to see what they want (ocean view? hot tub? pool? privacy? access to a specific attraction?).

When I'm looking for a STR, I'm looking for a home with an "unfair advantage".  Maybe it is something that makes the home "Instagram-able".  I want something I can market that will give me an edge, especially in a saturated market.

@Joe S. I'm pretty sure I heard the guest on the BP podcast last week mention she runs a service setting up vacation rentals for others. #563, her name was Sarah and I'm listening again because I thought it was a great conversation.

I have offered this idea to my SIL who has a knack for this stuff and is handy as a business she could start. We plan to discuss it further this weekend.

I'm sure you could find someone for the decor locally by finding a staging company and asking if anyone wants to design a house for you.  As for the listing setup maybe a realtor could help you with the words and photos and the rules are pretty straightforward to set up on airbnb.

I was just joking. My sense of humor doesn’t always come off right. Yes I self manage, but when I first started I had a property manager for a few months. I asked to be copied on all the messaging, etc. If you can find someone to do this it does help, but I can’t stress enough how much you learn simply by making mistakes over the first few months of self managing. If that’s your end goal then I’d recommend ripping the bandaid off right from the start. It’ll be painful, but a few months in and it’ll be just as second nature as your day job.

@Joe S. I don't think there is a service that does this, or can do it successfully. You are better off doing your comparisons based on the data that they have on their own websites.

As far as set-up, I think there are some platforms that can help with that......wait for input...:-)

Something like that was what I was hoping for. I was also hoping someone could give me a better idea about what it could generate. This property is close enough to my home to self manage it if I needed to. Not that I’m opposed to Property Manager, but I was concerned if it would be profitable Still with a pm.
