Interior Designer for STR
I am looking for some advice on where i would be able to find an interior designer that specializes in STR vacation homes. I have done a google search and found a few companies there but i thought i would ask here to get more opinions.
If you have personal experience in using an interior designer, how much did it cost for their service and what services was included with that cost?
I am thinking of potentially investing in Joshua Tree, CA and i know there is a ton of competition with beautiful homes, so i would also like to be competitive the design of my home.
Following! I'm a newer investor but used to stage homes and would love to see what's happening in the STR market with pricing. Plus I'm here in SoCal so it's an extra bonus!

I'm not sure if hiring a designer is necessary. But I'm not sure. It would depend on the area, specific property, desired income, etc.....

I'll give you the same answer I gave the last person who asked this same question.
Look at other successful STR'S and copy the stuff they paid a designer for and save the money.
Look at multiple house and just use the stuff you really like.

So many resources at your finger tips.
TikTok, Pinterest, AI, your enemies! Find other designs you like & things people are doing. Don’t rip them off, but put together a mix of what you like for your style
I know of some in my market...maybe network with some local investors and see who they've used.
My niece got married at a private house in Joshua Tree in the fall. The place was very high-end. Unless you have a lot of talent, a designer might be worth it in that market.

Hey @Alex Ballesteros. Do a search on the forum. There is a couple of people who put themselves out there doing interior design for STRs. No experience with them at all but you never know.
I am with the others, you can simply copy what others have done and maybe add a splash here and there.
Hey Alex - Would love to chat; this is exactly what I do. I've been in commercial/multi-family real estate for 15+ years, STR focused for 7+ years and have designed, setup and staged 75+ properties for owners all over the country. Let's connect!
Since 2011, I've been involved in the "hands-on" remodeling and managing rental properties, including several highly-rated short-term rentals in Mississippi that I personally furnished. As a property manager in Michigan, I offer services for setting up and managing short-term rentals.
My passion for creating welcoming guest spaces has given me valuable insight into the expectations of today's travelers. I'm happy to work within your budget, as long as it's reasonable. I'll be available in Mississippi this April-May, and then returning to Michigan. If you have need in this regard, feel free to reach out.
My daughter is an interior designer starting to get into this part of designing. Reach out to her, see if it can be done remotely....

I agree. But if you find a competitor that is killing it, not only rip them off, but copy them exactly...!
I have been talking to few and this is what I have found what they offer and how they work.
1) They charge a flat designing fee for 2bd/2bh and price increases then based on number of bedrooms and bathrooms. With this they deliver the mood board and links to order the items.
2) package 2 includes item 1 and flat fee for them to travel to your home, coordinate the packages, delivery, setting up and help the photographer for pictures. Few designers travel with their own contractors/handyman/team. Few don't then the price of handyman is on you.
Furniture expenses is separate. Hope this helps.
Price for designing quotes I have got are between $4500 to $13500 for a 4bd/bth
Price for package 2 - is from $9k to $33k, + Handyman expense to assemble furniture
You have to shop around and have to choose one that fits your budget. Hope this helps.
Craigslist is my interior designer. Outfitted two houses for under 1k. Gotta be quick with a van to get the good stuff. Matching dressers, matching couches, love seats, beds, tables, chairs, coffee tables, end tables, TV's, microwave, fake plants, rugs. I'm new at this, but so far reviews are 5 star. Ross store is my backup for little stuff, pillows, placemats, rugs, more fake plants.

Yep. You can get really good stuff on CL. And some yard sales....Focus on the nice neighborhoods...rich people are willing to get rid of stuff that we normal people think is awesome.

Hi Josiah, I’d love to connect as well!
I will second the craigslist post along with all of the others, in addition check out OFFER UP, it’s like craigslist, A classifieds site. I’ve made many deals through that site & no B.S.
