Cape San Blas a little slow?

Steve Arnold
Posted

I bought a 3/2 on Cape San Blas, Florida about a year ago. It's done ok. But it has not blown my doors off. I'm interested in whether other CSB STR owners are experiencing the same thing? Is it just a slow year? I'm sure there's more I can do on the management side, but what's everyone else experiencing?

Thanks,

Steve

I own on the cape and I LOVE it there. I also live about 2 hours away.

Really you've asked two questions. Is it slow and Is it my fault.

The answer to both is probably yes and a little bit.

The Cape is always sleepy. I'd be surprised if anyone on BP has ever heard of it or been there. And If you want to keep it that way -don't talk about it! Lol.

I keep my prices on this one pretty high because I can just grab the kids and go if it doesn't get booked. It's done pretty well this summer but it's moving slow and for sure.

Just remember -No matter what your market is -There are still people going there..... even if (worst case scenario) it's not as many people. So you just have to be better than the competition. Which in most cases isn't that hard.

It's really no different than any business. I know for a fact Harley and Motorhome sales have slowed down. There's a direct correlation to vacations. And the truth is...that's the best thing that could have happened to the economy. Too much funny money out there last 4 years.

Extreme ownership is your best friend on this one!
