STR Yacht Management

Hi BP,

I'm curious if anyone here owns or manages a yacht or houseboat and how that differs from a more traditional STR. This yacht is at a marina and does not leave the dock. I manage other STR's nationwide but I have never managed a boat before. I'm speaking with someone now that has one yacht ready for management and a second on the way. I'm curious how to calculate our fee. Being that it's a boat(docked) there are a lot of differences and maintenance items that make it much different than a house and I feel like it might be a little more hands on because of that.

Any first hand knowledge would be greatly apprieated.

This would a neat experience not only for you as a STR PM but also for guests. Unfortunately, you won't find much info on this forum outside of a SFH, cabin, condo, etc. But if you follow your normal PM protocol tailored to a boat you should do well. Although it might help to include some how-to videos with an online guidebook, that could help a guest use certain features of the yacht that might be hard to figure out. Just make sure you have a good relationship with the owner and there is clear communication on who is looking after what. I think VRBO has a number of docked yachts listing on their platform, and it might be a nice touch to offer add on concierge services.
