How to find STRs on sale?

Question

I know Zillow and Redfin has all MLS data but finding the properties that were previously used as STR and are on sale is very difficult. One can add ‘rental' keyword or search for few keywords but still doesn't cut it. I wish there was a site like these but totally dedicated to STR buy and sell.
what sites / techniques do you all use to find the STRs on sale?

Hey Amit I am curious why you are only specifically looking for properties that were previously used as STR versus setting one up yourself?

If a property does well, the seller will likely want a premium for it.  If it does not do well they likely will not disclose what it has done in my experience.

If you are looking on Zillow, try the terms:

Airbnb, furnished, STR, short term rental, No HOA, furnished, rental history

Those terms usually bring up existing STR properties. If you look through the photos and see bathroom sets with fancy soaps and coffee bars, then you know you found one!

I would suggest joining FB groups for STRs. People that are selling are starting there first, and I see a lot of people off loading their furniture in preparation to sell or LTR. In markets where they're known for STRs like at the beach, homes are sold furnished but not heavily marketed that way because of what is considered "real estate" legally. FB is definitely going to be your friend on this! I would also network with real estate agents in the markets that you want to buy. Good luck!!

My reasoning is that if a property is already producing numbers, it is easier to understand how much the revenue will be after you buy. I’m not limiting myself to just those types of properties but was wondering where do people look for them.

Hey @Amit Shukla, so when you say on sale, do you simple mean for sale? Seeing as property prices are based on comps, you won't see things "on sale" unless it is distressed in some way. Foreclosure or needing work.

I would cruise the FB STR pages and see what is what. Usually those folks are asking top dollar for their properties. More than comps support.

Good question. Maybe if you try to search "furnished". I'm sure a good amount of those would have been STR listings
