Anyone noticing the VRBO ads?

I'm watching the playoff games today, and it seems every few minutes there's a VRBO commercial....

They aren't mentioning AirBnB by name but they show a couple staying in a trailer where nothing works and then a couple staying in a really nice house with an outdoor rain shower, BBQ, pool , etc.....And the wording underneath says - 'Private Residence'. Pointing out that Air allows people to rent out anything.

They also focus on a host/guest calling into customer support and they promise a real person will answer within a minute...Wow!

I remember a couple years ago they ran a Superbowl ad and were followed up with a large gain in market share...let's see what this does, but it sure won't hurt them. As y'all know, I was never a fan of Air, and I feel that this is them getting exactly what they deserve, lol..it's fun to watch.

So I rolled out of bed yesterday after sleeping in and turned on Fox news to see the add again.

It's some kind of Space pod gimmicky place. The ad said instead of staying in a place that gets likes, stay in a place you actually like.

I hate both of them. I look forward to the day when both of them get their comeuppance. I have never seen such a racket where the middle man and the user gets all the benefits and the property owner takes all the lumps. Yes, we all put up with it because that's the market right now but I fully predict Houfy and the like are going to kick both of these platforms to the trash heap in time. As soon as enough owners get tired of making their property available to jerkoffs for peanuts and paying hefty fees to do so, the scale will tip. All that's required is a critical enough mass of good properties to go elsewhere. Remember MySpace? They thought they were permanent too :)

AirBNB seems to run a bunch of ads. Most of the ones I have seen from AirBNB are focusing on the whole house rentals vs the single room or oddballs.

I dropped VRBO several years ago after they kept adding more and more rules and restrictions. I have like Airb&b much better but their customer service for tweaking a listing could be better.
