Least obnoxious smoke/CO detector?

Question

Anyone found a Carbon Monoxide/Smoke Detector combo that does not have standby lights that are constantly on? I have found some that at least do not blink, but would prefer one that doesn't have a light on at all. Thanks in advance

I put tape over my personal one - that could be a liability issue if in a rental.

I don't know if they make them. Most jurisdictions require a visual alarm along with the sound alarm. More notifications the better. Most importantly, it protects the guests and also your butt legally if anything were to happen. Best of luck!

I’ll tell what I did a few years ago.  I swapped all my smoke detectors out with wired ones with a 10 year lithium battery.  No more midnight calls of a smoke detector going off due to battery issues.

Makes sense. To clarify, I am not trying to circumvent safety or liability and would not obscure or alter them in any way, mainly looking for models that come that way out of the box. Safety first always, especially when it comes to fire and CO. Would be hard wired as well.

The ones I have at home (Kiddie) don't blink so they aren't offensive so I will probably stick with those. The ones that do blink are an abomination and the people who design them that way should be put on trial for crimes against humanity.

All the ones I've ever seen have a steady light to let you know they are one.

The inspector might not like it if you try and cover or disable the light.

I've found that my eye lids block these lights at night.

Hey @Jon Martin, yeah they all seem to have a light. I do believe that it is required.

The ones I installed are battery powered and have a steady green light. It isn't obnoxious at all.

I am not sure what brand they are. I will check when I head over to the house.
