Buying and getting a STR permit in unincorporated areas of Anaheim

Hello everyone,

I have some cash saved and I'm looking to purchase a short-term rental property in Anaheim near Disneyland. I understand that the City of Anaheim is no longer issuing new STR permits, so one option is to buy a property that already has an existing STR license. However, finding a property with an active permit is pretty rare.

The other option I’m considering is purchasing a property in the unincorporated areas of Anaheim, where I could apply for an STR permit through the county instead of the City of Anaheim. I’m not very familiar with this process.

Has anyone gone through this before or knowledgeable about how it works? Any advice/pearls/guidance would be greatly appreciated!
