Guadalupe county/ City of Cibolo

Hello Bigger pockets community my name is Donald I own a Airbnb in Cibolo Tx I've been running this business since 2023 it's been recently brought to my attention that Airbnb pays the state of Texas taxes so everything been going great until I found out that they don't pay the City or county taxes so I've been asking the City and County what do I pay I think I've got it figured out I owe the County 2% and the City 7% of course I've not paid these taxes since 2023 so tack on an additional 15% for late fees?!!! When I contacted the county they said it's kinda honorary weather you pay this tax or not, What !!! This blew my mind I then contacted a fellow vacation rental owner that stated his around the same time I did he's a realtor and an investor and asked him if he's paid these taxes he said no and by the way he sold his property last year so now what do I do the county and city both know my name do I comply or just hope for the best that they don't come after me, and maybe sell the home now ?

    Replied

I don't think anyone of this forum would put into writing to break the law and not pay taxes, especially when there is a solid "paper trail" on all transactions and revenue....
