Legal considerations of STR within my home

Steven Route
Posted

Hello everyone!

I currently live in Mammoth Lakes and was thinking of converting the lower level of my home into a space for STR. What I'm trying to figure out is if this will cause any zoning issues as I'm currently only zoned for a single dwelling. If I make modifications to my house which completely encloses that space into its own area would that be a violation of the zoning laws? Would it be the same if I kept a locked door between the two spaces?

Thanks for your help!
