Newbie to the Airbnb game...courses? Books?

Question

I’m a normal buy and hold rental investor.

I’m trying to learn more about long distance Airbnb ownership and short term rentals.

Some say that all can be done online with cleaners and maintenance without a local PM, which usually run more expensive than normal PM.

Are there resources, guides, books, blogs, or courses that review everything one needs to know to get started in this business?

go to Amazon.com and search on "Airbnb". There are quite a few books there. focus on those with a fair amount of high reviews. usually you can get them used for less.

And ditto to the other posts. read many 100s

Stay away from the Master Lease ,  Arbitrage,  sublease, Brian page, and other related snake oil  threads.  it is no place for a newbie and generally not even really a place for someone with experience.

My best advice is this  regardless what others say. Use standard negotiating methods  to get properties. Make sure it is a good short term rental area. Preferred is to live near it and if not, don't use a property manager and giveaway your soul in a percentage but managed remotely. Automate as much as possible.

put your property on booking.com, Airbnb, FlipKey, and VRBO. Use their syncing to avoid double bookings. Or subscribe to a channel manager such as free to book, owner reservations, guesty Etc.

use Dynamic pricing such as pricelabs or wheelhouse or Beyond pricing set the pricing in the future. You will need a channel manager to work with one of these. It can increase your Revenue substantially.

@Barry Je there is a podcast called "Get Paid for your pad" that is all about airbnb. I have used a lot of what I have learned there to help me get started with mine, and it is doing very well.

There are a lot of channels on YouTube specifically about AirBnB. I'm sure a ton of them are full of exaggeration or downright bad information, but I'm sure there are some nuggets out there, too.

As Lucas said, you can get most of the information you need just by reading this forum. Spend a couple days in here, take notes, and you'll have enough to act.
