Higher rates for larger groups

Matt Ayoub
Posted

Hi All - I have a ten person maximum vacation rental in Mexico. Groups range from smaller 4-5 person families to groups of up to 10. I charge everyone the same although clearly larger groups consume more water, gas, electric, result in greater wear and tear, and require more effort to turn the property. I am curious if most hosts flex their pricing up to account for larger group sizes and if so how they think about optimizing this model. Thanks!

@Matt Ayoub I find the stress of trying to police extra group charges is not worth it.  If you're willing to roll with the fact that some people will be dishonest about group size in order to avoid the extra charge, then sure, why not, but you'll make yourself nuts if you want to enforce it 100% of the time.
