Directv or Spectrum cable?

Question

Closing next week on my cabin in Sevierville. Should I use Spectrum and have cable/internet/phone?

Or should we get Spectrum just for internet and go with Directv?

Anyone?

@Gary Dawson Use Spectrum.  I have to put a reminder on my google calendar every year for each property to call Directv to lower the price.  It is a pain, but I save $70-$90 a month per property (about$1k a year).  For example my 2 bedroom with 2 TVs jumped to $170, I had to call in and get them to reduce it to $80.  Since I set a google reminder it is a part of life, but if I had cable I am sure it would never go that high. I hate to see what DirectTv tries to push my 5 bedroom to with 6 TVs this year.  I would love Spectrum to become available.

If you have options that is awesome. Most areas out here only have access to Hughesnet for internet and Directv for television. Most cabins we manage really like Spectrum because they have better customer service. Be Aware though that certain area offer a business service for spectrum and I DO NOT recommend them. It is more expensive and the service is not consistent.

Spectrum all day long. One system, no contract. It's not even a competition, unless you can't get Spectrum.

So I would go with Spectrum as Lucas said just so you have 1 bill to pay, 1 place to call, easy right.  I have directv at one  of my cabins because that is all  I could get, but I had it at my house for over a 10 year span and can only remember it going  out due to weather like  twice over 10 years.

Are  you sure spectrum is the provider for your cabin and its not Comcast Xfinity?  I have Xfinity service at two  of my Sevierville cabins.  If your choice is xfinity and not spectrum then  I would  def go with xfinity.  It comes with a remote that your guests can just speak in to, to change the  channel but here is one of the other benefits with xfinity.  If you have a Roku TV, you can pull down the Xfinity Streaming  App.  If xfinity  is servicing the house,  then you can use the app on  all Roku TVs  in the house to stream  all the xfinity  channels you subscribe to without having  to pay for a box at each TV.  I put TCL Roku TVs in  all my cabins.

I don't like satellite.  It requires a box for every TV, and I have at least 3 tv's in every property.  About 80 televisions total.  My cable costs less, and it's the only way I can get internet.

I don't care for spectrum I just use them for internet because I have to.

I have direct tv. It takes a super heavy rain storm for the signal to be effected. I have never had a complaint about direct tv.

At one of our homes we have both Directv & Spectrum (WiFi) but at our Lakehouse we have Spectrum for WiFi but we can suspend it when we shut it down for the winters. $4.99/month until we fire it back up.

Personal opinion: Don’t bother with two different companies. For what? It’s just one more bill for you to pay. Besides directtv is not going to work if it’s raining. Cable will always be there. To contradict my personal opinion: If you do decide to go with spectrum internet and directtv I don’t believe you’ll regret it. Management wise it wouldn’t be a disadvantage other than during thunderstorms. If you have a personal affinity for direct TV perhaps that’s the way you should go!

Around here the only time we see a house with dish/directtv is when it can’t get either Spectrum or Xfinity (it will be one or the other, you won’t have a choice). Which also means you can’t get real internet. It’s not common but it does happen. It’s also not detrimental. One of my biggest producers had no internet. As long as your guests know what they’re getting into before they arrive, meaning you have the info in your listing and your check in instructions, you will thrive.
