STR Cleaning & Strategy Changes Because of Covid 19

Posted

Hello everyone! I'm getting ready to close on my first STR- a 1 bedroom lake cottage in Northern MI. With the Covid crisis, I'm wondering what kind of modifications you have needed to make to things like your strategy or cleaning routines? For example, I intend to limit as many soft surfaces as I can when we reno and set up- think leather couch vs fabric, pergo instead of carpet. I'm thinking this will make cleaning and sanitizing easier. But I haven't figured out what to do about other bonus amenities, like keeping coffee and food items (like granola bars or smores kits)clean between guests. Are you adding extra time in between bookings? Covid wavers?

Thanks in advance for all your thoughts!

@Angeline Rebottaro

Airbnb is offering a covid special cleaning situation which will likely push some folks to your listing but you've got to block a day between bookings (or before and after depending on how you look at it). Doesn't work for me. I'm too booked to have empty days.

My properties were professionally cleaned before covid and they're professionally cleaned now. Not doing anything different and see no need, but I'm also 97% occupied year round.
