VRBO Subscription Not Offered?

Question

I recently helped a family member set up their property as an STR on VRBO. I was trying to subscribe them to the VRBO annual subscription, but there was no option.

She called VRBO and they told her they stopped it due to COVID and when they offer it again, it will be by invitation only.

This does not sound right and I have searched around and found nothing on it. Has anyone ran into thiS issue on a new VRBO account set up?

I’m thinking she need to call back and see if she gets a different answer.

I heard they no longer offer the annual subscription for new listings, only pay per booking. I think you  are grandfathered in at this point if you were already paying the annual subscription.

I had to call at least 5 times before they’d finally let me buy it. Otherwise, they wanted to take 8%. No thanks!

Definitely a bummer and cuts into profits unless you create a fee to offset.

I created my listing in March of this year.  It no longer is available.  If you do the math, they make way more money on a per booking then a flat subscription for $500 annually.

I just tried to renew my subscription and it failed.. looks like the end of it.

It seems their fee is quite a bit more than AirBnb.  I hope they add back their annual subscription.  I just added VRBO and in one rental, the fee is more than the annual subscription.

my annual subscription is set to automatic renew in sept.. must be only for new host

There isn't a paid subscription. They take a fee.

Call them repeatedly. Eventually someone will let you buy it.
