Anyone self managing STR's in Big Bear Lake CA

I have a property in Big Bear Lake, CA that I would like to short term rent, but I want to self manage. I know that there is some language in the ordinance that requires a live check in, and most owners have to pay 30% to a PM company because of it. Is anyone getting around that some how?
