Clearlake (vacation rental)

As I am looking around North Cal for my potential investment, Clearlake comes to mind, probably short-term rental makes more sense. If you have an investment property in Clearlake, especially around the lake, can you share your experience? Thanks

YUP city of clearlake is a tough little town.. just go hang at walmart for a few hours.

Lakeport is nicest town.

if your by Kelseyville  the clearlake Riverias could make for some nice vacation rentals.. as the views are great and little to no crime.  Nice is spotty.. but holds a special place for me.. my very first sale in real estate was a lot right off of lakeshore drive and hillside Honda..  WE owned a lot of property in Nice over the years literally hundreds of parcels and if you look high on the hills behind the town you will see water tanks.. my Dad installed those in the late 60s along with owning the water company called paradise which he donated to the nice water department early 70s.

I like upper lake..  as well  someone has done a very nice job with one of the historic hotels there I was just there a few months ago and had lunch there.. .. we used own a Ranch out middle creek called the Hunter ranch 1,200 acres my dad busted into 20s its all built out now... Oh the memories..

My dad also developed a good portion of the City of Clearlake in the late 60s and 70s it just went to seed though unfortuantly.. We also owned most of the land to the north out of clearlake Oaks up in the hills you will see some homes up there.. very nice views..

but for vacation rentals by and large stay on the West side of the lake and not the east.
