Following a not local forum?

Hi All,

This may be super basic but I cant figure out how to follow a forum that inst local to me.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

A key word will probably be better because a lot of times people don't actually post on the intended local forum.

Right I see how to follow forums in specific threads.  What I am looking for is to follow a forum of an area that is not local to me.  For example I am local to San Jose Ca and when I go into search local forums it pops up and I can follow it.  But lets say I want to follow NY,NY since I am not local there it wont show up.  If I do a search for NY it comes up all as specific things people posted in the forums.  Maybe I just cant do it and I have to just add it as a key word?

top right of the forum post you can even see it on this post across from the options to share it on social media
