Lurker from eastern Ohio
Okay, okay...now that I have the lurking bug out of my system I can introduce myself. I'm Gary, 65, from Bellaire, Ohio, just across the river from Wheeling, WV. I retired 10 years ago from a California aerospace company and moved back to my home town here in Bellaire. I have a 4/2 SFR in nearby Shadyside that I rent out. It was an REO that I picked up for $28K and refurbished (extensively) myself just to have the experience. Not something I'm likely to do again but I did learn a lot. I've done minor remodeling on many of the places I've lived, just not to the extent I did this one. Anyway, it's rented now.
I can't remember what I was Googling when I ran across BP but I'm glad I stopped in. Awesome informational site and I'm sure I'll make a lot of friends here. My main goal is not a lofty one but in 4 years I will have passive income enough to at least replace my pension payments that will end then. That's a little over $4k/mo.
I have been looking for a real estate investment club near Bellaire. Have been to the one in Pittsburgh and plan to go check out Columbus. If anybody knows of one kinda in between those places, please let me know. If not, then I guess I'll just have to start one!
