Hi everyone,

I'm a new member here on BiggerPockets and located in Austin, Texas. I graduated from UT (McCombs) and moved up to Dallas for a few years for work before moving back down to Austin to be closer to family. One of my good friends is a real estate agent in town and got me interested in investing. The past few months I've been reading/listening to any and every real estate book, Audiobook, and podcast that I can get my hands on. I've been reading the BP forums for a bit and decided to go ahead and make my formal introduction.

I'm currently working full time and hope to make my first buy-and-hold rental property purchase sometime within the next year. In the meantime, I plan on absorbing as much information and knowledge as possible, finding a mentor, and saving up for the down payment. I travel quite a bit for work during the week so I can't always make it out to the meetups around town. Things should slow down after the New Year so I hope to meet some of y'all. Which meetups would you suggest attending for my strategy? I've heard that REICAustin is a good club to join?

Also a quick question: which areas of town have you been finding the most success in buy-and-hold investing (SFH and duplexes)?

Thanks,

Matthew Hite
