New NYC Investor
Hello BP community!
I am a beginning real estate investor in Astoria, Queens, NYC and I would like to introduce myself to you all officially for the first time, although I admit I have been lurking for a few months. I am excited to begin my new career and thrilled to have such a great resource at my fingertips! I am increasingly impressed (and overwhelmed) by the knowledge and passion found in the guides and forums.
I am looking to be a buy and hold for rental income investor. I have decided that I'm priced out from buying where my girlfriend and I would ideally like to live (Astoria, Queens) and considering other markets. I have made the decision to attempt to buy 1 multifamily cashflow property per year for four years and trade up to a place I can afford to live in Astoria (or Sunnyside, LIC, Woodside).
I plan to use my NYC compensation from my career as a film/tv technician to buy in markets where my money will go a lot further, while continuing to rent in my relatively cheap 5th floor walk up. I have no car and very low expenses so my money builds up pretty quickly, but the work days are long and grueling.
I am currently considering Orlando FL for my first investment property.

Welcome Justin . There are a lot of super helpful people and great advice on this site! I'm a "fix and hold" investor from the Bay Area in CA, and loving it! A lot of others doing flips, wholesaling, notes, everything.. A few tips..
You can tag people by typing @ before you type their name, then clicking their name when it pops up at the bottom of the message box. You can click on the "vote" button if you like someone's post or is helpful, and there are "awards" to earn on your profile. The "Learn" link across the top navigation bar has lots of great info, and most importantly, the BP members! Welcome to BP, and good luck on your investments!
