3 duplex house hacks + 1 STR, but new to BP!

Hello Everyone! My husband and I did 3 successful duplex house hacks in Pittsburgh, PA but now live in Longmont, CO. The house we own also has an Airbnb attached to it which I manage. 

I also have my own bookkeeping firm that specializes in serving real estate investors. And of course I do our own books.

I've listened to BP podcasts for years but never got around to making an account on here. But here I am now!

    Welcome @Kathy T. Rhoads! Might want to chat with @Jeff Nash sometime. He's a CPA and a bulk of his clients are real estate investors, so I'm sure your bookkeeping firm would be helpful!

    Nicole, that's awesome. I come from an engineering background and used to be a bleeding heart environmentalist doing carbon accounting. After having my kiddos, REI and bookkeeping were much more flexible and dependable. I've enjoyed the journey a ton so far and happy to see a fellow number cruncher on here!

    Max, we were in Castle Shannon very close to the border with Mount Lebanon. Our properties did well but after managing them from out of state for a number of years, we decided to sell. We've been happy to far with only managing an STR near where we live.

    Bookkeeping is one of those unglamorous facets of real estate that many investors ignore until it gets out of hand.  Good luck with your business and Pittsburgh properties.

    Welcome, @Kathy T. Rhoads!! I'm a big fan of househacking as well. Love that model. On our 2nd one now (seller financed) and have done small multi-family BRRRRs and a little private lending.

    100% of our bookkeeping firm clients are real estate investors. It's always nice to see more pop up in the forums!

    We have a great FB group called "Bookkeepers for Real Estate Investors". It could be some good networking and support for you.

    I started sub-contracted for Dave and Laurie Rice 5 years ago at REI Bookkeepers, but have decided it's time to get my own clients now. I didn't want to go at it on my own until I knew what I was doing. But time flies and here I am!
