Intro, future investor

Hello everyone. I'm a future investor from Lewis County, WA, here to educate myself, fine-tune my investment path and get to letting my money work for me. I'm leaning towards rental properties with variable rent lengths. I'm not looking to build a real estate empire, but to create some future supplemental, passive income.

Thank you for the sound advice. Little by little I'll get it figured out and fine tuned. Got a lot going on right now, getting ready to retire out of the military, working on getting my real estate license, trying to figure out if I'll need a steady W2 income at first. One thing I know for sure is that we're staying here, no intention of going back to NJ, or move elsewhere. At least for now anyway.

That all sounds like a big transition, but also an exciting new chapter! And I can totally relate… my husband is a Marine Corps veteran, and I actually spent most of my life in New Jersey too! So I definitely understand what it’s like to balance change while planning your next move.

It’s totally okay to take things step by step - getting licensed, figuring out your income strategy, and laying the groundwork for investing. A W2 can help with financing in the beginning, but once you're more established, you'll have more options for creative lending or scaling through partnerships.

Staying put sounds like the right call for now, especially with so much already on your plate. You’re doing great, and the fact that you're even thinking through all of this while prepping for retirement says a lot. One move at a time :-)
