3rd Gen Real Estate Developer - Now I Build AI Workflows for CRE Pros
Hey everyone, Jake Heller here.
Quick background: I'm a 3rd generation real estate developer. We were production homebuilders in CA, NV, AZ. I grew up in this business.
About a year and a half ago I started going deep on AI tools... specifically for commercial real estate. I wanted to know which ones actually worked for our workflows and which ones were a waste of time.
So I tested them. A lot of them. 300+ tools at this point.
I found that 90% of the AI for real estate tools out there give you generic outputs that don't account for how CRE actually works. The prompts people share online are built for tech companies, not for someone underwriting a 150-unit value-add deal or pulling rent comps in a new submarket.
That led me to start the AI for CRE Collective... the largest AI education platform specifically for Real Estate. Today, we're a community of 600+ commercial real estate professionals who share workflows, prompts, and tool reviews specifically for our industry. We've got brokers, developers, asset managers, capital markets folks, property managers all figuring this stuff out together.
A few things I've seen work really well:
- Using AI extract rent rolls and T12s into excel
- Rent comp analysis
- Lease abstraction and document intelligence
- Building custom underwriting assistants that actually understand CRE terminology
- Property renderings
- Generating decks
I also publish a weekly newsletter covering new AI tools, real workflows, and what's actually moving the needle for CRE teams.
Excited to connect with other BP members who are thinking about this stuff. I lurk in a few of the forums already but wanted to formally say what's up.
If you're using AI in your real estate business (or curious about it), I'd love to hear what you've tried and what's worked. Happy to share anything I've learned along the way.
