Learning the ABCs
Hello,
Just took my first baby step and signed up to this platform in hopes to build a community to learn and grow into my REI journey. My wife and I just recently moved to Georgia and bought our first home. I have long been interested in REI but never had to courage to jump in. Well, here I am! Very much excited to be able to one day buy a house as a rental property in my area. Appreciate your encouragements, wish me luck! Advice welcome!

Welcome Yonathan! Going from 0 to 1 is always the hardest part, so I'd encourage discipline, persistance, and patience.
Real estate is a great way to build long-term wealth if you stay consistent and patient with it. You don’t need to have everything figured out right away.
The biggest thing I’d recommend early on is narrowing your focus. Don’t try to learn every strategy at once. Pick one path, one general price range, and one or two areas you want to understand, then go all in on learning those.
From there, start looking at deals consistently, even if you’re not ready to buy yet. The more properties you review, the faster you’ll build a feel for pricing, rents, and what actually makes a deal work. That repetition is what builds confidence.
Also, start building a small local team over time. An investor-friendly agent, lender, and property manager can make a big difference and help keep good opportunities in front of you.
You don’t need to rush into your first deal. Focus on getting reps, staying consistent, and after you've been at it for awhile and reach the point of wanting to give up, hang in there..That’s usually when the right opportunity shows up.
Good luck!
