Hey everyone, recently stumbled across this community and thought it'd be a good place to make connections as well as learn a bit more. I currently have a property that I've turned from a live-in to a rental 2 years ago. It was purchased out of college with a friend of mine with the intention to rent it out after one of us moves. Only took a year, so we moved out and it's been rented ever since. It's put us into an odd situation with DTI as the banks see us liable for the whole debt, meanwhile we only get credited each half the income from the rental. As soon as that's resolved I plan to expand into a few more properties on my own!
Besides that I'm a dog owner, huge skier, I program for my job, and learn about real estate in my free time! I've got a few projects mixing my software development background and real estate enthusiasm I actively work on, and it's a way for me to keep up with the industry.
Curious if anyone else has navigated the co-ownership / DTI thing and found a clean path through it!
