Student with $10 monthly — Where do I start with real estate investing

Mercy Chinaza
Posted

"Hi everyone! My name is Aso mercy I'm a 19year-old student studying medicine in Nigeria .I have no prior real estate knowledge and no mentor, but I'm serious about building wealth through real estate long-term.

Here's my current situation:

Monthly savings I can invest: $10

Current knowledge level: complete beginner

Time horizon: long term (10+ years)

Goal: [passive income / wealth building / financial freedom]

My specific questions are:

1.As a student with limited income, should I start with REITs or Fundrise — and why?

2.What is the single most important thing you wish you knew when you started with little money?

3.Which REITs or REIT ETFs are most beginner-friendly for someone starting with under $100?

4.How much should I realistically save before even thinking about owning physical property?

5.What free resources — books, YouTube channels, or podcasts — helped you most as a beginner?

6.Are there mistakes you see beginners make repeatedly that I should avoid?

7.How do I evaluate whether a REIT is healthy or risky before investing?

I'm not looking to get rich quick — I want to learn properly and build slowly. Any advice from people who started from nothing is especially appreciated. Thank you!"
