Hi everyone,
I'm Emilie, Canadian-born, Australian-based. I've been involved in Australian real estate and am now exploring opportunities in the US market, particularly value-add and fix-and-flip investments.
I'm interested in learning more about market selection, deal analysis, renovations, financing, and building reliable local teams from overseas. The US market offers opportunities that are quite different from what we see in Australia, so I'm keen to learn from experienced investors who are actively working in these markets.
I'm looking forward to connecting with other investors, sharing insights from the Australian property market, and learning from the wealth of knowledge within the BiggerPockets community.
Thanks for having me, and I look forward to being part of the discussions.

Hi @Emilie Toussaint!!

You're asking the right questions because for overseas investors, the local team is often more important than the deal itself.

One market I'd suggest taking a look at is Memphis. It still offers affordable entry points, plenty of value-add opportunities, and strong investor activity. The key is having the right people on the ground.

We work with a lot of out-of-state investors and have built relationships with contractors, lenders, property managers, and other local resources that help investors get established much faster.

Are you mainly looking at flips, rentals, or BRRRRs? That would help narrow down which markets and strategies make the most sense for you.

Best of luck!
