Long time member - First time investor
Hi everyone! I've been a member here for a long time (since 2015 actually, but never took the leap into investing seriously until now)
My wife and I recently closed on our first home, and going through the process taught us more than we expected, including the (only half-joking) realization that we probably should've bought it as a rental instead of moving in ourselves. That "aha" moment stuck with us. We saw firsthand how much potential a single property has to change our financial trajectory, and it lit a fire under both of us.
The bigger driver, honestly, is my wife's career since it's demanding in a way that's starting to cost her time and energy. Building rental income feels like a realistic path to giving her more freedom to step back from that grind, on our own timeline rather than her employer's.
As for our approach: we're conservative investors at heart. We're not chasing quick flips or high-leverage plays. We'd rather move slower with limited risk and build something durable. Our strategy is long-term buy-and-hold rentals, and we care a lot about the tenant experience. We want people to actually feel at home in our properties, not just housed because we think that's what turns a tenant into a long-term one who treats the place like it's theirs.
We're brand new to this, hungry to learn, and excited to be part of a community that's clearly done the work already. We're looking forward to soaking up everything we can!
