Long story, when I was a teen helped Mom buy her first house by loaning her down payment, bought a rental for myself in my 20's in DC area while living in Germany, in thirties bought and sold houses we lived in, stepping up in size as we went. Retired from military in 40's and started investing a year later. Handyman business, tax liens, flip, then rentals.
