Welcome. I am in Frederick as well. I have been focusing on a few neighborhoods in Frederick but mostly up in Hagerstown. I would suggest getting involved with some local REI groups. I have found them to be my biggest aid thus far. Very kind people willing to help with a wealth of knowledge. Welcome!
