Newcomer from Los Angeles, California!

Hi--my name is James Tsuffis. I have no background in real estate investing beyond a few books I skimmed but am very eager to learn. I'm from San Jose, California but moved to Southern California for school. Graduated two and a half years ago with a degree in econ. Got taught a lot of math but not much real world application--hoping to learn some here though!

Currently, I manage my own reselling business. I invest in merchandise I can find locally (camera/filming equipment, IT equipment, inventory liquidations, video games, audio equipment etc.) purchasing from auctions and locals looking to sell and then sell the merchandise on my eBay or Amazon store. I have a storage unit I use as a warehouse to store all my inventory. It's great being my own boss and I've learned a lot about investing, how to value things, margin of safety, cash flow management etc.

My goal in real estate is to own rental properties that generate income large enough to cover my base expenses. I found this forum via a friends recommendation.

Am looking forward to learning! Are there any basic resources or books that are recommended for newcomers?
