Hello Everyone,

My name is Tee and I'm new to real estate investing. I'm originally from California, but I've been in Georgia most of my teenage and adult years. I'm an accountant and I work for a local CPA firm. I attended a few GA REIA conventions, workshops, bought guru courses etc. back in 2004/2005, but got side tracked by life and am just now getting back to it. I'm interested in the buy and hold strategy, networking and learning as much as possible. I look forward to hearing from you all.

    Check out the free BiggerPockets Podcast - A weekly podcast with interviews and a ton of great advice. And you get the benefit of having over 80 past ones to catch up on.

    Locate and attend 3 different local REIA club meetings great place to meet people gather resources and info. Here you will meet wholesalers who provide deals and rehabbers.

    Two Great reads, I bought both J. Scott The Book on Flipping Houses, The Book on Estimating ReHab Costs http://www.biggerpockets.com/flippingbook

    Consider checking out HUD homes for small multi's owner occupied gets first crack.

    You might consider Niche or Specialized Housing like student housing. Rents can be 2-4 times more. Remember you don't have to own a property to control it.

    Welcome to Biggerpocket!

    We are buy and hold investors is single family homes. What is your niche and goal? I like class A properties, they are more expensive with smaller margins but they allow us to self manage and have less issues. There are lots of different methods.

    Definitely check out the blogs, podcast and forums. Another great source of information is individual blogs found in peoples signatures. Many of us including myself write about our niche. The only thing we all agree about is investing in Real Estate. Beyond that there are many different style and types of investing. My blog/website is about long distance self management, landlording, investing in class A investments, investing in a transient lifestyle, etc.

    @Elizabeth C. As of now my niche is small multi-family investing. I'd also like to self manage and my goal is to get at least 20 units. I will check out your blog as well. Thank you for the welcome.

    @Donte Jones Thanks for the welcome. I'm near Berkmar right between Gwinnett and Sugarloaf Mills malls. Are you interested in single or multi family homes?

    @Tee Cruse You are in a great location yourself. Currently I'm interested/seeking  a single family home. I heard the multi family homes  are a great investment as well, but i have not done any research on them as of yet. Do they even have multi family homes in Lawrenceville?

    Yes there are a lot of duplexes in Lawrenceville, and I wish there were more quads, but there are some.

    @Tee Cruse there's a program here in Atlanta specifically designed for buy and hold investors. They are actually meeting tonight. You should go. It's called The Tookes Group.

    I think there is a misconception about accountants. Not all accountants are CPA. CPAs doesn't mean they know Real Estate Accounting. 

    Feel free to ask questions in this community, we have different varieties of skills on this forum.
