New to BP from Connecticut

Hello everybody,

My name is Tony and I have lived in Connecticut my entire life. I have begun the process of thinking about and planning for retirement. Initially, I thought my pathway to retirement was through the stock market. However after some time and research I realized the stock market is not for me. The speculative nature of stocks and the unwarranted fluctuations in stock prices left me wanting to have more control in my investments.

This realization has lead me to consider real-estate as a viable alternative. I have been reading the forums here on bigger pockets and really like the atmosphere of the site. I also find the podcasts extremely helpful and I am just about halfway through them.

Before I choose a style of investing in real-estate I will continue to read up on the topic.  I believe I am a year off from my first real estate purchase (excluding my current home).  Currently buy and hold seems most appealing and conducive to me as I have a full time job.

I am excited to be part of the bigger pockets community
