Newbie But In Need Of Direction

I hate to do this, but I do need some specific answers as I have a weird and limited situation.

I currently work for my father, but I hate it. Those of you who have worked for family may be able to relate to that. I have worked with him for 4 years but don't make that much for the area we live in. The pro of this job though, I work out of my house. This is a major benefit as I am a paraplegic who does therapy 3 days a week and cannot be sitting for long periods of time.

So my question is, what can I do in the world of Real Estate to start to pave my own way? I don't have any degrees, no certifications, nothing. I currently do some sales, a lot of quickbooks, and a lot of logistics. I have experience with upper level management in a $20million dollar company, however, that company recently went out of business.

My wife and I are looking to buy our first home, but in Orange County, real estate is out of this world, and something that is on a bottom floor for less than $300k that is nice is impossible. I mention this because I read @Brandon Turner 's article on how to make a million in just 8 years. There is no way I can find a duplex here and of course it is not a good idea to buy outside of the area in which one lives.

I don't think I can really do Real Estate, as I can't really show homes, go upstairs or anything, wheelchair has a lot of drawbacks (but it also has it major advantages!). I could possibly look more into Wholesaling, but I don't know anything about it. I would just love to find a completely different path than I am on now, and create my own financially secure future for my family that we hope to start soon.

Any advise, any direction anyone can point me to would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

I've been summoned, I see.

@Stewart Thompson If you're stuck, I can assure you that the place where you think you're stuck is actually not far back enough. I've had the privilege to start over several times in my life and have had much downtime yo reflect on both the problem and the solution. It's largely attitude and action.

Winners find ways. Eliminate the problem people and time vampires from your life...now! Study like hell. Learn to sell on the phone and in written copywriting. Learn what makes a deal and how to separate the Dealmakers from the dream merchants. Like it or not, over 90% of people posting in forums never do a deal. Not much better at many RE clubs.

Go attend Gerald Lemoine's note group. I believe they have applied for FIBI approval and would expect they'll get it. I know him pretty well and think that's a good start if you're interested in paper and compliance.

BTW, we all have disabilities. You won't find two people in a hundred who know I'm partially paralyzed myself. That's  just a physical thing.  The worst is between the ears. Don't let your mind become atrophied or worse, lie to you.

When I was in the hospital a few years, Lemoine wouldn't leave me alone. I complained every time he called, which was frequently. I needed every call but do not tell him.

Also, here's how to do research: Go to the bookstore with a hand truck. I borrowed that exoression from my friend Brian Kurtz who runs marketing at Boardroom Publishing (Bottom Line Newsletter).

Also, never stop flying the flag of defiance. Tell me I can't and I'll prove to you I can.
