New member in Cedar Rapids, Iowa

Hi everyone! My name is Alex. I am originally from West Michigan and currently live in Iowa. I have always been interested in real estate, but have no experience in real estate investing. I am eager to learn everything I can from the Bigger Pocket's community.
My educational background is in mechanical engineering and economics. I currently work full-time in a product marketing position for large agricultural equipment.
My short term goal is to flip 1-2 houses in the Cedar Rapids area. Long term, I am interested in buy-and-hold properties to generate cash flow. I have a particular interest in multi-family homes and self-storage.
I am particularly interested in connecting with others around Cedar Rapids. Does anyone attend any good real estate investor clubs in the area? In preparation for my first flip, I would also appreciate any recommendations on quality contractors that others have worked with successfully.
