Newbie in Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas

Good evening everyone,

My name is John and I am still taking in all of this information available on the site.  Hope to meet people and learn the ropes along the way.  I currently work as a management consultant specializing in product development by day and grad student by night.  Father of twin girls (5) and when I have free time (which is almost never), I practice photography.  

I believe the niche that interests me the most is rental properties.  I enjoy my career so not looking to replace it, but like the idea of a second/third/fourth stream of income which allows for more security for my family.

Welcome to the BP community.

You might want to consider getting involved in one of the local REIAs in the area. There is one in Arlington called "AREA" (Arlington Real Estate Association of Investors). I met several investors from this group at the REI Expo back in January. They seem to be very active. You can find them at their meetup link (www.meetup.com/realestate-445/).

There are many real estate investors groups in DFW. I live in Collin County and belong to the North Texas Association of Real Estate Investors (www.ntarei.com). This group meets in Richardson.
