HOA Foreclosure

I am currently residing in a home for which the HOA has began a foreclosure process. I am told that there are no liens on the property, however I have received notices from the attorney who is collecting on the dues and fees. I've been advised that there has been a judgement for auction. The home owner is a relative, and unable to settle the debt. I am researching/ considering the terms of purchasing the lien, and or bidding at the auction myself to purchase the title under HOA foreclosure. I would greatly appreciate any feedback or guidance!
