I am a middle-aged man; who is business minded and wants to be real estate investor. I presently work in the Oil and Gas industry and travel anywhere from 6-10 months out of the year. I can be home for long periods of time so I want to fill my downtime with something interesting, challenging and profitable. I am recently married and want to build a residual income stream so that I can spend more time at home, with the ultimate goal of not having to travel for work at all.
I am looking for a partner, but you can read about that on my profile, since no sales pitches are allowed here.
I have been reading everything I can get my hands on and listen to the BP podcast during my commutes and work downtimes. I am also working on my real estate license online before/after work and on my lunch break.
The amount of information here is awesome and I love the attitude of the founder and they key people here. People can make money and be successful and avoid morally questionable business practices.
Welcome aboard the vibrant BP community. You already have some experience and with additional effort, will quickly climb the REI ladder to its pinnacle.

Welcome to BP! I'm sure you know that there is a ton of information on the site along with amazing people willing to help and support you along your RE journey. There are also a bunch of clubs, events, and meetups all around Houston if you want to do some local face to face networking.

Hello and welcome! It sounds like you have your **** together. I am 59 years old and I was looking for something to do part time. I found BP about 3 months ago and I am still learning. I graduated from college and I got a broker license in 1980. Regardless of getting s business degree with a real east emphasis I got back in the construction business. I was there since I was 17. @Simon Shihwelcome to BP and congrats on getting going again. I invest in Houston and have a large apt community there. What type of deals are you looking to do?

@Michael Lee - Thanks. I think I have my $h!t together, but time will tell. My goal is to so something by the end of Jan 2016. I'll keep you in mind. I know I will need help in the future.
@Joe Fairless - I am still researching my options as to what type of investing I want to do based on my goals. I think my plan is leaning towards rentals, BRRRR, multifamily homes, buy and hold. I have a good job and in order to stop doing what I'm doing (or doing less of it), I'll need a monthly residual income to replace it. I will be working on my business plan this month and will have something in place before I do my first deal.

Initially I began my investing career looking into fix and flips, then shifted my attention to the Notes side of the business. I found that area to be an excellent opportunity to create passive income and strong capital gains.

@Simon Shihgot it, makes sense. Good luck with the approach. One wrinkle you might want to look at is finding 4 units that can converted to 5 units. That worked out well for @Jered Sturm.

@Joe Fairless. I have been working on it and just uploaded it in the last few weeks. Been working like mad to get everything up and running. Website is done and I'm about to send out my first round of mailers. 1000 postcards. Should be interesting if o get a response because I'm leaving to go offshore for work next week.
The name is because it's like the opposite of who I am. I'm the most non Asian, Asian and I have long hair and tattoos. Luckily, the domain was available. If it hadn't have been, I'd probably be the rocker horse or something. Lol.
