Hello Bigger Pockets!
My name is Mike Murray and I hail from the great State of Nebraska!
I am new to the world of Real Estate, and currently make my living as an OTR (over the road) truck driver. As such, I have quite a bit of time to listen to the BP podcast, so I am taking time finally to get active on the forum and introduce myself.
I will be 42 in a few short weeks. I am married (14yrs) and I have 2 awesome kids. I have lived in Nebraska since 1986 and currently reside in Hastings, Nebraska.
I found Bigger Pockets in a round about way. I was sitting in traffic in Chicago, and I saw a "bandit sign" claiming I could earn 120k+ if I called the number... So, being bored in traffic I called. It ended up being for a guru course, but it really piqued my interest.. so a few emails later I was watching an introductory webinar about the company. Come to find out the "course" was $20k for me and a "partner" and not being the type of guy to just write a check... I did some more digging and research on the internet, and I came upon a comment on a youtube video that simply said... "Why pay $$$ for this guru course, when you can learn everything for FREE on BiggerPockets.com.
So... here I am, and let me tell you... I am SO GLAD to have found this site!! Not to mention the podcast! I have been using the Stitcher App to listen, which curiously doesn't have episodes 1 - 46. So I started on episode 47 and am currently at episode 110. I love it! and I consider them as credit hours towards my Real Estate education!
I've basically just been a sponge for the last month. Ive read the UBG several times, the guide to screening tenets, bought and read a copy of Rich Dad, Poor Dad, and pretty much anything else I can get my hands on.
My plan is to follow a buy and hold strategy, and possibly throw a flip or two into the mix. I know that with the knowledge and connections I will make from BP, that my goals are going to be in reach.
Alright, before I turn this introduction into a novel.... I want to thank the folks at BP for creating this site! I have already learned so much, and I am excited to get things rolling as a Real Estate Investor!
Thank You!
