Business cards or NOT?

Hello everyone,

I'm new to all this, I signed up for a few REI events in my area. Should I have some type of business cards printed, in case I make some connections, or is it to soon for that?  Another question, should I have a company name, or not?

At this step, a simple calling card is appropriate.  Name, phone number, email address.  That's all you need for now.

We started with some cheap, Vistaprint cards with one of their standard backgrounds - those went a long way for us.  This would be a good route for you to start.  Eventually we developed a company name, logo, etc, and swapped out the old ones for some branded ones.

Good Idea to have them but do not  let that keep you from attending events.  Get out there and make sure you get the cards of those you meet.   You can then email them or send them a note in the mail reminding them of who you and your contact information.

and...the only difference between a calling card & a business card is that a calling card simply has your name on it and not a business name.

Definitely have them available.  You can have them printed through VistaPrint for next to nothing.  Hand them out like candy to anyone who will take one.  This business is all about networking and relationships.

Yes you should have a business card, business cards are cheap.  But don't listen to me I usually don't have any with me.

Company name is not important at this point. No one is going to be impressed because of a company name.

Business cards are helpful, but not a necessity.  I actually always kind of laugh at the people who go out of their way to get a business name, website etc,...and then find out they have never done any deals yet. Spend your time looking for a deal and learning the market, instead of trying to come up with a clever business name.
