FHA Loan and Conventional Loan

Hi All -

I am new to the real estate industry (BP) and I am here to learn and network. I am open to advice as I grow from strength to strength. I am located in the Bronx but I am interested in investing in North NJ. I have a question in regards to FHA Loans. I have read a good amount on said loan type and reached out to different small banks but I just had a conversation with a loan officer and he told me that "I can't carry a conventional loan with a FHA loan". Hence, I will have to sell my current property before I can get a FHA loan. How correct is this? All facts and opinions are most welcome.

Thanks in advance.
