What a site this is!! Incredible resource of information and people.
I have been dreaming about real estate for some time now. Seems I always come up with a reason that it is not a good time for me. Now that I am approaching retirement age, I am thinking more seriously about real estate again. Ideally I would like to build up to $50000 (in my pocket) a year. The thought of flipping makes my blood boil (this is good) and the idea of buy/hold/rent I see as a long term solution. Although I have taken classes, searched for properties and read about others doings, I am lacking the ability to make the first jump. I hope to use this site to learn more and make personal connections.

@Robert Car, welcome. This is a great site to learn from others who are actively involved. There is a good meetup in Fairfax hosted by @John Rubino, @Roger Lin, and @Justin Pierce. If you reach out to them I am sure they will get you on the invite list. Good luck!
