New to Real Estate, where to begin??

Question

Hello everyone,

I'm new to Real Estate and found these forums recently. It is so informative and helpful!

I am a bit overwhelmed, albeit  a bit lost as well. I'm currently in the process of getting my RE License, as I can't imagine it hurts to have one.

I'm not sure where to begin as far as investing. I am leaning towards buying and holding properties for rental and cash flow at the present time.

What advice would you give to a person just starting out in todays current economy and RE market?

Welcome to BP. I understand how REI is a lot to take in at the beginning. My advice is to pick a strategy and learn in incremental steps. Meaning figure out what's needed for the first step and then do it before moving on to the next one. Then learn what's needed for that step and do that one before the next. Otherwise, it's easy to get overwhelmed and distracted. Of course you can switch up strategies down the road if you find that the one you're in doesn't suit you, but this at least gives a plan of action to getting your feet wet. All the best!

Welcome to BP Jack! I definitely think buy and hold is the way to go, but it depends on how much cash and/or private lenders you have at your disposal. If you are fairly limited in that department, you may want to consider a combination of flipping and holding.
