Beginner looking to deploy ~$1M into a Jacksonville portfolio

Hi all,

I would like to introduce myself and hopefully get some advice from fellow investors out there.  I'm looking to become a regular on theses forums and will try to contribute in any way I can.

I'm based out of Miami & NYC. I am fairly new to the real estate game and am looking to dive right in by deploying about $1M into Jacksonville real estate, in the ballpark of $60-$120k/door.  Preferably, I'd like to leverage this money to control as much real estate as possible. The plan is to buy & hold for equity building and a bit of cash flow. I will be looking to hire a property manager for this venture.

Currently I'm having trouble deciding whether to focus on single family homes or purchase a multifamily complex. I would love to hear thoughts on this. I also still have a lot to learn about finding the right deals and the financing aspect.

I would love to meet with any experienced investors in the NYC/MIA area.  I have an e-commerce background selling physical products online for over 15 years.  This is still my main business, although it is now fairly automated.  If any experienced real estate investors out there are interested in getting into the business of selling physical products on Amazon (great cash flow business if done right), maybe we can help each other out.

Best,

Max
