First forum discussion here, What does biggerpockets do for you?

Hello, first time poster here! I don't spend much time on Forums, but my nephew has recommended Biggerpockets to me as a real estate agent who would like to experiment more actively with investment. What does biggerpockets do for you?

its a great place to find like minded folks who run the gambit of highly experienced to total beginners and everything in between.. although I would say its slanted towards those starting their journey and many once they get going and have some success contribute less frequently.

you have those that are in some sort of sales business so are always marketing themselves or their companies.. through writing blogs and or posting on the site with regularity.  You will see many of the same people post on the same thread topics as they come up..

After a few months you begin to see who is who on this site.. although I am a little slower than most so it took me a full year or so to realize.. Hey that person keeps posting on say the Turn key threads.. do a check of them only to find out they are a marketing agent for turn key companies.. Duh no wonder they post on all turn key threads.

@Barbra Thebenyane, I have found biggerpockets to be a great community of like minded investors, where I can discuss and learn more about the intricacies of my chosen field of REI - Mobile home parks.

Welcome @Barbra Thebenyane!

BP has been a huge part of the successes I have had to date in real estate.  Through BP I have met agents, lenders, JV partners and local investors I have bought from and sold to.

Wealth of information on the forums and podcasts.  Of course as with everything you get out what you put in.  If you want to get into the investment side I would also recommend going to a local meet up or REIA meeting as connecting with people in person is really where your relationships will come to life.  Good luck!

I agree with @Dawn Brenengen about the free education!  I've learned so much here.  Granted, I've yet to do a good job in the application part, but still, I've learned what to do, so that's a start.  :-)

Oh and the REIA is usually hosted by investors in your area.  Some start as meetups and some have been around before that.  I think if you can continually show up and make contacts you will find them helpful.  I have run into some people who wouldn't share anything with anybody and others who are a open book so I would say continue to attend and make a least 1 connection if you can.  Even set up a lunch outside of the regular meetings.
