Anyone do any type of training before jumping in?

Hello, I am new and watching many webinars and training videos. I see there are many programs out there that cost anywhere from 5k to 50k to get training and mentoring. such as Coach Gregory or Investor Entourage?

How many of you have done any of these programs?  What were your thoughts? Was it worth it or not?

How many just used bigger pockets and local REIA to help you grow?

You can learn everything you need to know on BiggerPockets, and other free or cheap resources like books, online search, youtube, facebook groups, and local REIA groups.  Save your money until you educate yourself at first.  Everything in any course can be learned for free.  Some courses that are specific may be beneficial down the road if you want to learn more about a specific area of the business, such as scaling, or marketing, etc.  But as a newbie, most programs are designed just to prey on newbies, and throw a bunch of information at you that makes you feel like you learned, and then they'll try to upsell you on more programs.

Hi Pamela,

I would network as much as possible and build relationships. There are a few Tucson real estate investors meet ups where you can learn the market and network. Be sure to visit Meetups.com to see them in addition AZREIA is a must!

The best lessons that I've learned thus far have been through trial and error. When I run into issues and get stuck, I'm able to leverage my network work through them. It's all about persistence, but worth it.

I wouldn't spend the money on those programs.

Biggerpockets is all you will need.

I have not used any of the programs, however I prefer to learn through experience, and through BP as @Josh Nicolson and Account Closedmentioned. I think it'd be more of value to network with others, learn from their experiences, and even create partnerships in order to get a hang of the system.

I would use the money to Joint Venture with someone and actually learn how to do the whole process and own some real estate. Do a quick search in the box above and you will see a lot of comments on large sums of money people have spent for coaching/training. Sometimes it gets people off their bark-a-lounger and involved but many times people spend the money only to find out they need one on one help through a couple of transactions to have the knowledge and confidence to actually be successful. If you want to learn how to invest in the Phoenix area let me know. I like Tucson but I don't know the neighborhoods or the market.
